Coal Creek Canyon Volunteer Fire Department
Department in service since 1948

The Coal Creek Canyon Fire Protection District covers a 48 square mile area in three counties. Approimately 60% of this territory is in Jefferson county, 30% is in Boulder county, and 10% in Gilpin county. Fire and Rescue services are provided to a population of 4,000-5,000 people. The CCCVFD responds to approximately 200 incidents a year, of which 75% are EMS related and 25% are fire related.
The CCCVFD has, currently, about 40 volunteers assigned to one of four stations.
All members of the Coal Creek Canyon Volunteer Fire Department maintain, at a minimum, a First Responder's certificate and are CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) certified. The fire department provides free First Responder and CPR classes to all its members. To attain a First Responder certificate, 46 hours of training are given over a period of eight weeks. First Responder certifications are valid for three years. CPR classes require approximately six hours of training. CPR certificates are valid for 1-2 years (type and length of certification are at the instructor's direction.) CPR recertification classes are approximately four hours in duration.
