RTD Bus Route

RTD (Regional Transportation District) have made public their intentions to eliminate this route (again.)

Canyonites are asking for support to save our bus line. Please mark your calendars, and tell all of your friends and neighbors that their support is needed as well. While the economic environment that we find ourselves in these days is tough, this is the worst time to completely eliminate public transportation. For many people, this is the only method of reliable transportation to and from work.

We would like to engage RTD in a discussion to consider a compromise rather than complete elimination of this route.

You can review an article from the Denver Post.

Community Call to Action

Whether or not you personally use the RTD bus service here in Coal Creek Canyon, we need your help to try and save our route. We were told that our best chance was to be the "lightning rod" of the proposed changes, or the group that brings the most attention to our concerns. Perhaps we are a small enough line item with enough push-back that it will be easier for RTD to put their efforts elsewhere. Here are some ways to be heard:

Attend any or all of the upcoming scheduled RTD Public Hearings (see below), and speak out against the cancellation of the CC bus line

Send an email to all of the RTD Board of Directors (see below), simply stating your opposition to this proposed change. This message does not have to be excessively lengthy, just to the point. We were told it is best to send individual messages, not cc the entire board.

Send an email containing your comments to service.changes@RTD-Denver.com

Send a fax to share your comments with RTD at 303.299.2227

Phone the RTD Board of Directors to voice your opposition to this proposed change (see below)

Ideally, do all of the above to ensure that your position is heard.
These comments must be received by RTD no later than February 9, 2009.
Pass this information along to any of your friends and neighbors up here in the canyon, we need all the support we can gather.

You can find current, up-to-date information on RTD's website, www.rtd-denver.com.
