Morning fog across a pasture on the Coal Creek Farm

Farm Life

Every day on the farm (or out and about) is a potential adventure. Our entire family enjoys various activities from feeding the chickens to riding the ATVs, from hunting for plants to just hanging out. Friends come and visit too. We have the family home, but there are smaller cabins on the property where friends and sometimes scientists stay when they visit the farm for work or play. Our entire family loves paddling in the nearby creeks. We enjoy the cool water and the beautiful landscapes. We’ve worked hard to protect those creeks with several now designated “Wild and Scenic,” protecting them forever and expanding recreational opportunities for every family. While this isn’t exactly “on the farm,” it’s part of our farm life.

George Lindeman documented life on the farm for Farm and Ranch Living Magazine. It was a typical April on the farm. There are days of work, of controlled burns and fencing mending, and there are days of family fun, hiking or paddling or standing around the fire enjoying marshmallows together.
