Animals of Coal Creek Farm

People love birds and deer and sometimes they love turtles and tortoises and other animals. And, we love charismatic mammals! While we don’t have any elephants, the biodiversity of the living things including plants and animals, large and small create a habitat, an ecosystem that is interesting and, in a good world, balanced.

A total of 663 animal species across nine major classes were documented at Coal Creek Farm, including one fish, 13 amphibians, 14 reptiles, 76 birds, six mammals, three snails and slugs, five centipedes and millipedes, 19 arachnids, and 526 insects.

Don’t worry about the fish being lonely, where there’s one, there have to be others.

No species of state conservation concern or federally listed animal species were found during the present study.
