Grasshopper sitting on George's thumb at Coal Creek Farm.

This handsome devil is a new grasshopper species found during the biodiversity study. Meet Melanoplus lindemann Hill, or as we like to think of him, “Grasshopper George.” Read more about it here: https://explorer.natureserve.org/Taxon/ELEMENT_GLOBAL.2.1169443/Melanoplus_lindemanni

Insects of Coal Creek Farm

You loved mushrooms. You liked bugs and plants. Now, we present insects. Yes, insects. We’ve had entomologists looking around the property for several years. They’ve found all kinds of cool stuff, including many, many species of insects. We’ll share more later, but this poster was presented at the 11th annual Association of Mississippi Entomologists, Plant Pathologists, and Nematologists last year in Starkville, Mississippi.

Below the poster of our ants you’ll find a selection of other insects we’ve found.
