The genus contains about 15 species that are widely distributed in tropical and temperate regions. These species include Oudemansiella Canarii, Oudemansiella Australis and Oudemansiella Gigaspora. Another species, the Oudemansiella Mucida, also referred to as the Porcelain Fungus, is edible, although its slimy covering puts most people off the mushroom.
