I love this time of year. This morning I saw the first Indigo Bunting of the season. Our area of Tennessee is in the flight path of dozens of migratory birds. During Covid, my children and I recorded more than 60 different species of birds. They aren’t a profit center for the farm, but I enjoy the bright colors, songs, and hilarious antics of different species that pass through. Last year we had a pair of Kildeer nesting just off the side of our gravel driveway. They pretended to be injured whenever we walked by their nest. I haven’t heard one yet this season, but the song of the Blue Grosbeak always makes me smile.
