The Brown-headed Cowbird’s latin name is molothrus ater. They are native to subtropical North America. Their preferred habitat is fields, pastures, meadows, forest edges, lawns, and other open habitats. The adult male is iridescent black in color with a brown head. A female Brown headed Cowbird is slightly smaller and is dull grey with a pale throat and very fine streaking on the underparts. A juvenile Brown headed cowbird is streaked brown.
