The Black-and-White Warbler’s latin name is Mniotilta varia. They breed in northern and eastern North America. Their preferred habitat is deciduous and mixed forests. The Black-and-White Warbler breeds from April through August. They winter in Florida, northern South America, Central America, and the West Indies. They very rarely vagrant to western Europe. The Black and White Warbler song is one of the first signs that spring has arrived. Its population status is of least concern. If you look online for Black and White Warbler photos (or a Black and White Warbler picture) it quickly becomes obvious why they are named as they are, with their striped bundle of black and white feathers. They can be found at Coal Creek Farm from late March through early October. Their diet consists of insects, lepidopteran, larvae, beetles, ants, and spiders. The Black-and-White Warbler can climb in any direction.
